Earth Day – April 22, 2017

On Earth Day, the cold and rain could not stop the SLCT crew from spending a few hours removing invasives and cleaning out, as well as dredging part of a drainage canal along the Rails to Trails at the Burritt Street parking lot.

The goal each year is to remove the invasives and replace them with native vegetation to beautify the trail and make it more hospitable for local wildlife. In addition, members of the SLCT and the QRWA (Quinnipiac River Watershed Association) completed a clean up of trash and debris along the Quinnipiac River at the Apple Valley Bowling Center on South Main Street. The hope is to make the river and its shore ready for the enjoyment of kayak and canoe enthusiasts alike.
