Moana – July 22, 2017 The Southington Land Trust hosted a fun night – Disney’s “Moana” at the drive-in!
Trails Day – June 3, 2017
	Great day for a hike on the Tunxis Trail to the top of Southington Mountain, ending with breathtaking views of the Southington valley from the White Rock overlook. Twenty-six hikers survived a short burst of rain and even some hail. Other than that the weather was perfect.
Earth Day – April 22, 2017

Earth Day Cleanup Earth Day Cleanup	On Earth Day, the cold and rain could not stop the SLCT crew from spending a few hours removing invasives and cleaning out, as well as dredging part of a drainage canal along the Rails to Trails at the Burritt Street parking lot. The goal each year is to remove the invasives and replace them with native vegetation to beautify the trail and make it more hospitable for local wildlife. In addition, members of the SLCT and the QRWA (Quinnipiac River Watershed Association) completed a clean up of trash and debris along the Quinnipiac River at the Apple Valley Bowling Center on South Main Street. The hope is to make the river and its shore ready for the enjoyment of kayak and canoe enthusiasts alike.

The Southington Land Trust participated in the town’s first Civic Showcase at the American Legion Hall, giving residents an opportunity to learn about local clubs and organizations in town.

Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day, the Southington Land Trust spent the morning cleaning up! Weeds were pulled and beautiful flowers planted on a section of the Rails to Trails near Burritt Street. Our hope is to clean up one small area at a time. We hope you enjoy the scenery while on the trail.
