Battery Recycle

Battery Recycling

Old batteries lying around? Don’t throw them away! Batteries contain corrosive materials and heavy metals—lead-acid, cadmium and lithium-ion—that can contaminate the environment and affect human health.

Residents can now recycle their depleted batteries anytime through the SLCT’s recycle program.

Common household, non-rechargeable, single-use alkaline and zinc AA, AAA, 9V or C or D cell batteries are accepted, as well as rechargeable and nickel cadmium batteries.

To recycle, place your old batteries in a sealed plastic bag and drop them in any of these locations:

  • The Land Trust office at 76 N. Main St.  The main drop box is located inside the building and is open during normal business hours, while a smaller container is located in the rear of the building.
  • The Southington Public Library. Drop them in Southington Land Conservation Trust’s battery recycling bin located by the 1st floor circulation desk!

Can I recycle it?
