Battery Recycling

Old batteries lying around? Don’t throw them away! Batteries contain corrosive materials and heavy metals—lead-acid, cadmium and lithium-ion—that can contaminate the environment and affect human health.

Residents can now recycle their depleted batteries anytime through the SLCT’s recycle program.

Common household, non-rechargeable, single-use alkaline and zinc AA, AAA, 9V or C or D cell batteries are accepted, as well as rechargeable and nickel cadmium batteries.

To recycle, place your old batteries in a sealed plastic bag and drop them in any of these locations:

The Land Trust office at 76 N. Main St.  The main drop box is located inside the building and is open during normal business hours, while a smaller container is located in the rear of the building.

The Southington Public Library. Drop them in Southington Land Conservation Trust’s battery recycling bin located by the 1st floor circulation desk!
